FENTON'S FANS COUNTING THE HOURS UNTIL REOPENING!!
Rocky Road after 2001 arson is nearly over for Oakland's Landmark Ice Cream Parlor, Which Hosts open house today.

To get to the bottom of the colossal banana special, the king of sundaes at Fenton's Creamery in Oakland, start with the cherry, then dip into the heaping clouds of wipped cream, before sinking into the 24 ounces of ice cream under a flowing curtain of hot fudge, pineapple and strawberries.
To know why anybody would stand in line for hours on a hot summer day to taste a banana special or any other sweet creation at Fenton's , just ask any of the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the more than 100 year old community fixture after a fire 18 months ago.

The Doc. June 15, 2003

Hello everybody!I wish I could say that Original Kasper's was open but it's still goingto be a while before that happens. Meanwhile, I know it isn't quitethe same as actually being there, but Peter Thompson does as good a jobas is possible of capturing on tape the unique flavor of my Dad's'little place' and making you feel as though you're right there atKasper's enjoying a great hot dog and having a great time.
Peter's production of "Original Kasper's: The Hot Dog Stand That Saved A Neighborhood" will air across America during the following week on National Public Radio's "Soundprint" program.
